Real Fantasy Football 2010 Season Awards
By: Ryan Sayler
Fantasy football this year has been as much of a guessig game as ever. With the emergance of some players and the disapearance of others, it has been hard for anything to be viewed as a sure thing.
I hope that all of you who have followed Real Fantasy throughout your fantasy football season have been able to experiance some success. I personally was able to finish 3rd in my league and blame my lack of a 1st place finish on Mike Martz.
So as we look back on the season that was, I hope that you all are able to smile and reflect with me on some of the stars and duds that kept us guessing in 2010.
MVP: Tom Brady
Can anyone really argue with this? Maybe he didn't have the most points in your league (and maybe he did) but the fact is that he came through when it mattered. The champion of my league rode Brady's hot streak all the way to the trophy. With that many touchdowns and so few interceptions, he was hard to beat.
Best QB: (See MVP)
Best RB: Arian Foster
Considering both Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson both had their hot and cold days, it was consistency that proved most valuable. Foster was a constant in the red zone and turned in great numbers weekly in both yards and touchdowns. This young star needs to be top-3 pick in every league next year.
Best WR: Roddy White (PPR) or Dwyane Bowe (non-PPR)
While Bowe had 15 touchdowns to White's 9, White was able to pull in 109 receptions to Bowe's "mere" 67. Both receivers topped 1,000 yards and helped their teams pull of suprising divisional crowns (even thought Atlanta's won't be finalzed till week 17).
Best TE: Jason Witten
His usal play-making self, Witten saw increased production as the Cowboys experienced turmoil at their QB position. Witten had "receiver-like" numbers and was a standout at an otherwise dull position for fantasy owners.
Best Kicker: Sebastian Jankowski
Simple. Led the NFL in points.
Best Defense: Pittsburgh Steelers
Depending on how your league does defense (teams or IDP's), the Steelers were a good bunch either way. Allowing the fewest points in the NFL, the Steelers defense continues to be a dominant force for any offense to contend with.
Sleeper of the Year: Michael Vick & Brandon Lloyd
Vick came into this year as a backup and Lloyd was the prodigal son trying to ind his way home. 16 weeks later, Lloyd leads all receivers in yards and Vick is in the running for league MVP. Just goes to show you how stupid we all really are.
Bust of the Year: Randy Moss
Coming into the year, Moss was expected to once again be Tom Brady's favorite target. The future hall of famer was expecting as productive of a year as ever. Now after finding his third home of the year in Tennessee, Moss has all but completely dropped off the radar.
I hope you have enjoyed this year in fantasy football, I want to thank everyone of my readers and I hope you stick around for the offseason to check in on all of the other rants and reasonings on sports that Real Fantasy will be providing. I appreciate any feedback as well as any aquaintances you might tell about Real Fantasy. The countdown begins till next fantasy season!
